To get there from Manhattan was a day or taxi, plane, bus, ferry and tinny rides! Our taxi ride was fast and furious! Our plane ride was just how I like them, uneventful! The bus ride took us through some lovely Maine countryside giving us our first view of beautiful New England houses. The bus was running late so we missed our connecting ferry to Vinalhaven, so we eventually boarded the ferry to North Haven. As we disembarked Alice and Steve were waiting for us and we headed across the water again on a tinny!
The Rosen home is a gorgeous one, over one hundred years old and sits on the edge of the water in a quiet little inlet, quiet and pretty! The ROSENS also gorgeous and looked after us as though we were life long friends instead of short time Skype friends, now we consider them friends for life. Not only did we meet their family but also their friends. They hosted a dinner in our honour inviting their closest friends. We had a wonderful night of fun, laughter and story sharing only to be invited to another dinner the next night with the same group, such nice people. Dick & Jeanie, Stevie & Mike, Sue & Jerry, Steve & Alice -Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Alice and I took part in a fundraiser fun run/walk, Allan & Steve
unloaded lobster. Allan went fishing with Steve, Alice and I visited the local school with Sue Who works there. Alice, Sue and I had lunch in town, visited the little art gallery and the cute shops. I baked biscuits for after dinner and life was go
PS If you ever want to get to Vinalhaven or Nova Scotia, let us know, the travel agents can't do it, Google can't help, but we found a way! As i write this post we are leaving VH by ferry, we will catch a cab, a three hour drive to the Canadian border, cross a bridge by foot, go through customs and take another cab to St John where we have to stay the night as there are only two scheduled ferries each day! Tomorrow morning a ferry to Digby Nova Scotia to meet the Harris'. We plan on four days with them, then we are hiring a car in Halifax and will be on our own from there! We have both only driven once, so it is going to put us to the test!
