A WONDERFUL WILDLIFE ENCOUNTER x TWO

I couldn't wait to catch up my blog before showing our two fabulous days of the magnificent wildlife watching in the wilderness of BC Canada.

It was worth the 10 hour trip to the top of Vancouver Island and beyond to see.

Our first day was whale watching; of course wild life cannot be guaranteed but we were hopeful and optimistic.

We set out into the bay and within minutes we saw our first Orcas, quite a way in the distance BUT we hung in there and as the hours unfolded, in perfect weather conditions we were treated to much closer encounters.

The Orcas were just so beautiful and so were the white sided dolphins who arrived by the hundreds only to annoy the Orcas so much that they took off to escape the annoying little creatures!!

That was only to our benefit as we had noticed the spouts of humpback whales and went to investigate. To say we were fortunate to see these magnificent mammals is an understatement!
We were surrounded by them! There was no breaching, but there were so many we didn't know what direction to look as they moved around, spouting and diving and disappearing with their tails the last thing that you see.

When it was time to return to port we moved through several hundred dolphins and that topped off the perfect whale watching day.

Day two was an early start to find a bear or two! Fortunately we found eight; as soon as we left Telegraph Cove, Allan spotted a mama black bear with two cubs; much further into grizzly country we were treated to a big mamma grizzly and her two beautiful cubs as well as a pair of juveniles no longer with their mother.

Again we lucked out with perfect bear viewing conditions, this being cool and overcast and not windy and with the right tides that lower the water level just enough to bring the bears to the stream to fish for salmon.

Just a small selection of the numerous pics taken.
