POINT BROOME JETTY & BEACH - POM 20

Pictures of Broome - no editing necessary!! No words almost - it is spectacularly harsh, beautiful and full of colour.

Yesterday I watched a doco about the ten pound English immigrants who came to Australia in the late 40s early 50s. All but one of the stories were success stories about how the couples and individuals embraced our country, became successful business wise and considered themselves dinkum Aussies. The one lady who stayed in Australia under sufferance couldn't find one comparison between England and Australia that was positive for Australia - one of her comments was that there is no beauty in Australia, everything is hard and harsh, not soft and gentle like in England. She returned to England eventually and the footage showed beautiful fields of flowers in her home land and then her wrapped warmly in her coat in front of a grey house in very cold and grey weather! Hmmmm I would suggest that she spent 50 years with her mind and eyes closed, I know where I would rather be and after a holiday to England in their "summer", there was much beauty to appreciate there, much history, amazing buildings, castles etc but along with that came the greyness, coldness and bleakness.

Thank you Great Great Grandfather Robert William Guy for the petty crime that you committed that had you banished to the colony of Australia - I will be forever grateful :) !!

I guess home is home and I can't imagine living anywhere else than this beautiful land of ours.Point Broome beach where the locals escape the rubber necks!!
My POM 20 - the rubber necks!!
Point Broome jetty is an amazing structure.

....and again the colours are just amazing :)
