Not sure if I mentioned leaving my travel bag on the bus when we arrived at Rockland? Well, that was my little bag that holds our most precious bits and pieces, like passports, wallet with around $300 and two credit cards! To cut a long story short and after several phone calls and help from the ferryman and Steve Rosen and a very early and persistent phone call from Allan to the bus company, it was found under the seat, sent back from Bangor to Rockland by bus, put on the ferry to Vinalhaven and safely into Allan's hands! What a relief, especially for Allan who didn't really sleep much that night! Me, well, c'est la vie, what can you do but deal with it as best you can and don't lose sleep, that only compounds the problem.
After arriving in St John in Canada we had another foggy ferry ride to Digby NS to be warmly greeted by Robert and Alma who took us to their home at Wedgeport. Allan had another fisherman to talk to and I had the chance to recharge my batteries.

Nova Scotia is a fisherman's paradise, it is steeped in maritime and has more boats, ports and fishermen I have ever seen!!

Robert and Alma's hospitality was amazing! They showed us around, cooked up some amazing food, Robert did our laundry and then took us to Halifax via Lunenburg and Mahone Bay for two wonderful days, I wish we could have taken them with us for the rest of our NS journey. More of this journey to come.
Just a few more pics to finish off - oh! I forgot to mention two gorgeous kids; Adam who gave up his room for us THAN YOU ADAM! And the gorgeous songbird Mackenzie! xxx

Scallops for lunch

Waffles for breakfast

Out to dinner at Robert's uncle's restaurant Rudders where we ate Escargot!! OHMYGOSH the things we have sampled here! I have tried and enjoyed the lobster, Rappi Pie which is a traditional Arcadian food and baked scallops wrapped in bacon. I have tried and discarded clams and mussels and likened them to stale gum with fish flavouring, they seem to be a great favourite of a lot of people though. I do have a few more recipes to add to my collection now.

Roberts home made waffles were delicious and were topped with maple syrup that his dad had produced. I had tried the waffles at breakfast at our hotel in New York but couldn't eat it. Homemade is the only way to go!

A handful of blueberries picked from the bush in the backyard, delish!
(and I didn't share).

Visited a wonderful Arcadian living village, like Sovereign Hill but much smaller scale. Robert and Alma and a whole lot of NS are Arcadians descendant of the French who settle in the 1700s, French is their first language.
