LEAVING WINTER IN OZ TO SUMMER IN USA & canada
Well it has been a long time in the planning but finally the day arrived and we landed in Seattle to be greeted by Meg and Payton, it's been 12 since we have been in Seattle and 6 years between hugs! The trip, as long hauls go was' well, long! And fortunately uneventful! Apart from rocking up at the wrong hotel in Melbourne (that is a story for another day) all went smoothly. We slept remarkably well the first night and today was recovery day spent close to home.
Meg has been showing off her cooking skills and we have experienced a couple of her great recipes. This is a family that breaks the American stereotype of fast food being the staple diet. Her meals are home cooked with the freshest of ingredients. Today she made fish sandwiches!! I know, I know, sounds a bit fishy, BUT it was more than delicious, it is about to become a regular dish back home. Will provide recipe later.
So we finally met little Hudson and he is just a Delightful little boy, eats a lot, sleeps a LOT and generally keeps himself occupied. So cute listening to a two year old forming his first words with an American accent.
We spent a lazy morning at home which is not hard to do in Meg's beautiful home with all windows overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound and the afternoon at the beach which is just couple minutes drive down the hill from the house. The beach is unlike our beaches with a grey sand, lots of pebbles and huge driftwood logs scattered along the shoreline. The water is icy cold even though it is mid summer, so there is no swimming! We paddled but not for long! Allan had his first drive and made the trip home without any problems except for putting the wipers on each time he needed to use the indicators.
Today, Wednesday we are heading to Fisherman's Warf and Pike Street Markets to wander about most of the day. Allan is hoping to run into Zig (from Deadliest Catch) while we are there and I'm hoping to find me a Cinnabon, more info on that when I am successful in my quest! Another thing I hope to work out before long is where I can store my photos to be able to upload them from my iPad, not having much success at the moment, so for now my blog will be text only.

Disappointing to find out that it is not possible to upload my photos from my iPad to my blog without an app and the few apps that are available don't come very highly recommended, so unless I use a computer to upload it can't happen, very frustrating, bit will see what I can come up with.
