Below is my #32 POM taken in Lima Peru in the old city, before we set off on our long haul trip. I DETEST the photo but it is the only one that shows how we travelled and what we carried for that 2 months! Everything that we needed and didn't need was in those two back packs and I carried them from one country to another in all weather and all modes of transport for those 2 months. It was a fabulous way to travel and I doubt that I will ever use a suitcase again!

And a few pics of Santiago Chile. It was a great city to get around easily in, friendly people but not too many speak English which forced me to try out my very limited Spanish! On the flight over I was fortunate to sit next to a Chilean gentleman who migrated to Australia over 20 years earlier, he helped me with the language and the correct pronunciation of lots of the words, so felt a little more confident when we arrived - until I had to put Spanish conversation in to practice!
Santiago suffers from smog, as you can easily see in the photos and a lot of that is a result of the MILLION TRILLION buses that run throughout the city 24/7! They are old, noisy, constant and necessary. Though Chile is a wealthy country by South American standards most Chileans can't afford to own cars, so the bus is the mode of transport for most. WE WALKED!
If and when the smog cleared the view of the magnificent snow capped mountains was beautiful. This day we were lucky.
And a couple pics of the buses for good measure, these were the little cute ones, the big ugly ones for some reason I didn't photograph - how very unlike me!
....hold on, yes I did, just found this one, the big ole noisey, smokey bugger!
And then there was this particular mode of transport..........

Adios for now !

I'm still enjoying your blog! I haven't traveled outside the USA much at all. I have been to Canada twice and Mexico once. Never overnight in either country. Sigh. Such is the life of a northeast Texas homebody. ;o)
Have you located a cookie scooper yet? Are you looking? Be sure to let me know if you can't find one. I don't mind buying them and sending them to you. That's what friends are for. ;0)
