Pictures of You Pictures of Me.....

At the end of the 2008 school year at our "Staff Awards" breakfast, I was presented with the "Pictures of You - Pictures of Me" award. It really could have been the "Pictures of You and No Pictures of Me" award! When nominated, a song has to be chosen as well to describe the award and this is played at the time of announcing/receiving the award, hope you understand that bit of ramble! Anyway the reason I won the award is because I almost always have my camera close handy to capture the day to day happenings at school. Over the past nineteen years I have taken thousands of photos and of course none of them include me, so historically-pictorially (is that a word?) at St Martins I don't seem to exist! So thank you Danni for the nomination and the recognition :)

"So where is this leading", I hear you ask? For some time I have been thinking of participating in "A picture of me every day for 365 days" and today while checking out a blog spot, the blogger had commenced her photo every day and being 01/01/09 I thought that it would be the perfect time for me to start also.

Even though I would much prefer to be behind the camera I try to remind myself of how often I lament the fact that we don't have many photos of my mum who died when I was 19 years old and I just wish wish wish that we had many more. She did everything she possibly could to avoid having her photo taken, so I want to make sure my kids are left with a few of me - so here you go kids - there's another 364 on their way :)

Anyway I snuck into the bathroom with my baby Canon this evening and here's the first pic of the year - the countdown has begun and hopefully the quality will improve! No amount of "enhancing" desaturating levelling brightening contrasting opacitying - and the list goes on, could improve the quality of the photo, so Number 1 Pic is a bit of a bummer!!

But I did try......

First I had to work out with the little point and shoot how not to use the flash!

.... then to actually photograph myself and not the entire bathroom!

....and thenthis being my PERSONAL FAVOURITE.....
.....how to put my whole self in the frame!!

THANK YOU ADOBE :)

Bet you can't wait for the next instalment!!

That's exactly what I look like when I try to take my own picture!

How many did you take to get a "decent" picture? LOL

What a fantastic concept - it is exactly the same here of late as I am always looking to capture something bloggable (I KNOW that is a word). I might just join your photographic banwagon and start my 365 on 09.01.2009 (just so I remember the date:) I look forward to seeing you every day for the next year - Sx

you know i'll take your photo anytime, C! Just say the word. ;) an easier way though...buy a remote for your d80. I've used my d80 on self-timer and have also used a little remote control (only a few $'s on ebay). I took some group shots that included me at a girls getaway to celebrate my friends 30th. The remote and a tripod did the trick perfectly. I'm also a believer that so long as you have a few photos of yourself looking your best, then all the ones that show you doing 'real' everyday things and looking not too swish are much easier to swallow!
