UMBRELLA RUG THERMALS BEANIE CHAIR HOT CHOCOLATE?

That's what was needed Sunday night at Carols!!! It was cold, drizzled rain and damp underfoot, but this year I was prepared for a summer's evening in Mount Gambier!!!It's not quite the same with battery candles! But a lot safer for kids. It does lack the atmosphere of the real thing, maybe next year we'll go back to the candle stuck in the cut off drink bottle!
The damp conditions didn't dampen the enthusiasm and the girls sung along with the carols.
St Martins Year 2s and 3s presented the nativity beautifully.
This year Baie was a shepherd.
Steve didn't need the umbrella at this time during his speech but it was used to illustrate families and friends can be protected under an "umbrella", how if at times families face "bad weather" holes appear in the umbrella or the umbrella is totally torn apart how we need to be around to help especially at Christmas time when people are more sensitive to loss and bad times. As usual his speech was meaningful and relevant.
Grandad Ron sung the carols with gusto, I'm not too sure if Steve was singing, burping or there was a yawn about to commence!
Numbers seemed down on last year and I wonder if people are staying away because of the weather or the new location at Frew Park, maybe it's the change in format from just singing carols to introducing guest artists etc. I know I much prefer being squeezed together at the Cave Gardens, singing carols with a band and choir leading - and actually being able to hear the crowd sing not just a few individuals on the stage!

After the carols we checked out some of the Christmas houses.

Montebello really puts on a show!It was all too much for a three year old who didn't quite last the distance!
